The terms "conspiracy theorist", "conspiracy nut", and "conspiracy loon", often spoken in a denigrating tone of
voice, are loaded, pejorative terms. Loaded language is "verbiage that attempts to influence the listener or reader by appealing to emotion rather than logic".
Such terms can be used quite effectively to demean and discount the person speaking without truly addressing the content or veracity of what has been said. Other examples of loaded words include "terrorist", "Nazi", numerous racial, ethnic, and sexual slurs that I will not voice here, "pro-lifer", "baby-killer", and "Bible-thumper". The list is endless. It is hurtful language often used specifically to squash debate.

We who share a home and a television with loved ones often experience a schizophrenic existence between the worlds of Main Stream Media (MSM) and the online Alternative News, two entirely different views of reality. When we attempt to share something we have read or viewed online, the response may be, "You believe in that conspiracy stuff? You're becoming a conspiracy nut!"
To preserve my sanity, I have learned to view MSM with detached interest and humor. Through ABC, NBC, CBS, and local FOX channels, I see snippets of war news, the latest celebrity gossip, and devastating weather and earthquakes, the events of top billing that day, chosen for my consumption. The cable networks, CNN, MSNBC, FOX, and affiliates, have 24/7 access to their audiences but seem unable to focus on more than 2 or 3 major stories simultaneously. Those stories, usually the same ones on all channels, are regurgitated repeatedly as the "news readers" fill time, waiting for updated information.
Today all of the major networks, both broadcast and cable, are owned by only a few corporations. The leadership of these organizations are part of the so-called 1%, in today's vernacular, the ruling elite of this planet. Because there are few, if any, effective borders, geographic or financial, country governments, the corporate captains of industry (including the bankers we love to hate these days), and many influential individuals working together have become our world government in all but name. Independent television news via broadcast or cable is no more, if it ever existed at all.
The folks in charge get to choose the truth, the official story that the rest of us must believe. The world news organizations are tasked with "selling" it far and wide. Any viewpoint that differs from the official story is labeled a conspiracy theory.
If the anchors we see on the nightly news or cable channels have any power in selecting the stories they present, they are certainly closely monitored by network management. With rare exception, the one-sided reports are always the official version, sanctioned and promoted by the government or any other group directly affected by the information. A news anchor, consultant, or "talking head" who deviates from the official version of the truth will find his or her employment in jeopardy.
I have much sympathy for hardworking news reporters, especially those who put themselves in harms way in war zones and places of civil unrest. They undoubtedly chose their profession because of a desire to help the rest of us understand what is happening in our world. I am certain, however, that although they may know first hand the complete story they are reporting, they are often muzzled and prevented from sharing all that they know. It must be frustrating for them, to say the least.
I wrote above that we are all conspiracy theorists because by definition even the version of a story sanctioned by officialdom is really a conspiracy theory, often full of inaccuracies and contradictions. We are expected to believe their conspiracy theory without exception simply because they have defined it as truth.

More than 50% of us now obtain at least some of our information on current events from online sources. When I sit at my computer, checking my favorite news sites, the world suddenly expands. I can choose what I want to focus on, to do further research if I want, and whom to believe, if anyone. I can find multiple viewpoints and critical analyses, often contradictory. I am not "spoon fed" what I should hear/see and how to interpret it.
The amount and variety of online information is voluminous. There is not just one truth, but many truths, which is how life happens. Subjects that are clearly verboten by MSM are given equal footing. I regard the information cautiously, but I know that one day in the future I will learn the whole story.
The truths that are most fiercely protected by our Rulers and MSM are the official versions of Black Operations (black ops). Alternative explanations are immediately attacked and labeled conspiracy theories. Sadly, it is often the anchors, commentators, and paid consultants of MSM who are the first to yell "conspiracy theory" and label the presenter a "conspiracy nut".
It is not difficult to understand why questions relative to black ops cause such a forceful response. Black ops are meant to be covert, held in secret because of their questionable ethical or legal implications. These are usually the activities of governments, the military, security, or intelligence agencies, funded under the table with tax payer dollars. Such activities receive little public or governmental oversight and usually have secret budgets.
Program information is dispensed on a need-to-know basis that sometimes does not include even the president! Terrorist actions such as assassinations, sabotage, support of foreign or domestic resistance movements, "false flag" operations, etc., are often categorized under the heading of "black ops".
Here are a few examples of assassinations and disinformation campaigns that are/have been allegedly black operations, about which many conspiracy theories have been put forth.
- The assassinations of President John Kennedy. Robert Kennedy, and Martin Luther King
- Anthrax attacks in Washington, D.C., carried out for political reasons using anthrax available only through military sources
- Government creation of Manchurian Candidates, disturbed individuals, to carry out programmed assassinations or acts of disruption
- The continual U.S. denial of the existence of Extraterrestrials among us and the back-engineering of their advanced technology by the militaries of the world (not just U.S.) in spite of disclosure in many, many other countries
- The Secret Space Program, time travel to other planets, as well as operational bases on the Moon and Mars
- Ancient Earth history including Atlantis and Lemuria
- Origins of humanity
The other category of black ops, i.e., "false flag" operations, are probably the most protected secrets of all. Planned and executed by governments, corporations, or other organizations, they are designed to place the blame for some horrific event on another entity to achieve some type of political or military strategic gain. Elaborate cover-ups are required to maintain continual secrecy for a successful outcome. (False flag is a military term for flying false colors in war time to deceive the enemy.)
The following are a few examples of the most famous alleged U.S. "false flag" operations that have resulted in many conspiracy theories.
- The attack on Pearl Harbor which was U.S. provoked in order to prod a reluctant populace into World War II
- The staged Gulf of Tonkin attack which was the impetus for the Vietnam War
- The bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by the CIA using Timothy McVeigh to introduce a fear of terrorists
- The 9/11/2001 destruction of the World Trade Center, assault on the Pentagon, and plane crash in Pennsylvania - the grand-daddy of all conspiracies by elements of the U.S. in collusion with other organizations to promote the War on Terror and provide rationale for the wars in Iraq and Afganistran that followed.
Open-minded and free-wheeling discussion is the life blood in a healthy Democratic Republic. The squelching of freedom of speech by the labeling of people attempting to exercise that right as conspiracy nuts has been a major factor in the assault on our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
So powerful have been the official versions of the above events that decades later, in spite of tremendous amounts of high quality research by thoughtful experts, the official explanations still stand. In point of fact, many books and articles with extensive research, thoroughly referenced and documented, have been published on the above topics and are available in local libraries and bookstores. No alternative explanations, however, have gained a toe-hold.
Many reasons exist, but perhaps most profound are the words uttered by Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men: "You (we, in this case) can't handle the truth"!
Our lives are complicated, stressful, and hurried. It is easy to discount alternative explanations for events when even the conspiracy theorists cannot seem to agree on one explanation. It is less stressful to continue to believe the official version even if it is full of inconsistencies.
A number of other powerful reasons to resist a change in our thinking also exist.
- It is inconceivable for many of us to believe that our government and the leaders we elect could engage in massive calculated deception. Such a belief would threaten all upon which we have based our lives.
- We would have to entertain the possibility that our government would actually be willing to murder us in large numbers to further their own agenda.
- To believe government complicity in most of the operations above, we would have to believe that our government is comprised of terrorists who would conspire to take away our freedom.
- Although we may not hold the MSM in high regard, to entertain any of the ideas above, we would need to believe that our media acts primarily as a propaganda machine, perpetuating calculated misinformation.
- We would have to believe that much of the Earth and human history we have been taught and think we know, as well as the reality we live in, is actually based upon a litinany of lies and deceptions.
- And perhaps, most importantly of all, if we changed our belief system, each of us might have to "do something", perhaps personally take responsibility for some small part in changing our current state of affairs. That in itself might be enough to cause many of us to grab the clicker and flop back down in the safe old recliner again.
I do not expect you to believe all or any of black ops or false flags listed above. I do hope that at some point you will be curious and open-minded enough to do your own research.
Do I believe all the conspiracy theories above? No, definitely not. But I do believe that enough questions have been raised that our Rulers owe us some better answers. At the very least, if some big breaking news happens one day on any of these topics, nothing I hear will shock or even surprise me.
I have included a couple of quick links in this post to get you started, if you are inclined to do your own research. Actually there is so much available information that you merely need to check your local library or bookstore, your favorite online search engine, or YouTube. All the information you need is hiding in plain site!
I hope, in the end, that you will think in the days ahead before quickly labeling someone else a "conspiracy nut" when s/he expresses an alternative point of view. If you are the one accused of being such a "nut", please do not be deterred in your search for the truth.
Few things have hurt our Democratic Republic more than the squashing of freedom of speech that the conspiracy theory put down has caused. Had we been more questioning and less malleable during the past 10 years, our experiences today at airport security checkpoints might be much different.
Love and Light.
